Portrait of a woman done in charcoal. 18 x 24 White Charcoal Paper. (Vine Charcoal, Compressed, and HB/3B/6B Charcoal Pencils).
Reference definitely used - It's a replication of a photo of Noreen Carmody from an 'Acne Paper' magazine I picked up at the bookstore. My lungs are now black from breathing in all the charcoal dust, but I'm incredibly happy with the results. It's too bad my digital camera is such crap or I would've taken a bigger photo. D: This is the first time I can say I'm kind of happy and proud of something I made. It's also the first time I can say that I took a shot at drawing realistically and there is NO HINT OF ANIME/MANGA CLINGING TO THE PICTURE. AT LAAAST!!! My goal is to break myself entirely of the manga/anime style. I mean, not that there's anything wrong with manga/anime, but when I draw realistically I want it to look realistic damnit! |
